Bodhi and Birch Rosa Rosa Launch

On Thursday I went along to the Bodhi and Birch RosaRosa skincare range. It is their first full skincare range made up of a cleanser, toner and daily moisturiser. The range is developed for normal to dry skin but can be combined with their other products to make it suitable for combination skin types.

The set up was so beautiful; a tall vase of roses and hydrangeas surrounded by birch wood and glass jars of flowers. Amongst these were the full product range and pretty little vintage teacups. The room was all white and the table was in the middle below a gorgeous chandelier. I have already tried some of the Bodhi and Birch range; Neroli Lucé Revitalising Face Oil being my favourite.

It was lovely to meet Elijah, the founder of Bodhi and Birch. He is so friendly and as soon as we got there he was introducing us to the new products, spraying us with Rosa Rosa Toner and showing us the new Camomile Sky Bath and Body Therapy which smells amazing. Elijah also realised whilst we were there that the toner is actually edible, so we all tried the toner and I can confirm it tasted sugary and quite nice!

We were also very generously given a lovely gift bag and I cannot wait to try these out! Thank you to Elijah and the teams at Bodhi and Birch and B Public Relations for a fantastic day!

La Redoute - A Pretty Parisian Gift

You may have read my post for the 'La Redoute Secret to French Style' competition a few months back, but if you didn't you can read it here! I didn't win the competition but La Redoute got in contact with me recently and very kindly sent me a lovely gift.

They noticed from my blog that I love blue so sent me some gorgeous things from their Mademoiselle R collection, in an array of blue shades. It all came inside a lovely Parisian themed box wrapped in matching blue tissue paper. Inside there was a jersey dress, a lightweight cardigan, a watch and a pretty blue and grey cushion cover.

Dress - La Redoute*
Bag - Primark
Sandals - Oasis
Ring - Forever 21
Necklace - Forever 21
Sunglasses - Betsy Johnson
Belt - Bershka

This dress isn't something I would usually choose and was a bit worried about trying it on if I'm honest, however when I put it on and put a belt with it I was surprised that it was quite flattering. It's a really soft jersey material and I think this is something that would be great for on holiday; either to throw on at the beach or dressed up slightly for an evening meal.

Top - Dorothy Perkins
Shoes - New Look
Sunglasses - Dolce & Gabbana
Rings - Pandora/Swarovski
Bag - Michael Kors
Watch - La Redoute*

This cardigan is so soft and is a great colour, but my favourite thing about it is the coral detailing. It makes it a little bit more special rather than just being a plain blue cardigan. This is great for every day, especially now it's starting to cool down, but I will also be taking this on holiday for the evenings when it starts to get a little chilly.

They also must have picked up on my love of homeware (not hard by the amount of homeware wishlists I post!) because they also sent this lovely pale blue cushion which is grey on the reverse. It matches the cushion that are on my bed perfectly and now I'm on the look out for some nice pale blue bedding to match!

Thank you to La Redoute for my parcel, it was a lovely surprise and I now have a huge wishlist after looking on their website; a polka dot tulle midi skirt in particular!

Do you shop at La Redoute?

Slimming World Update

I realised that I haven't done an update since posting about starting Slimming World here, so thought I'd do one now as I'm just about to come up to my 1 and a half stone loss!

As of Monday (weigh day), I have lost 20lbs. I feel so much better and healthier and I'm so happy that most of my clothes now either fit me a lot better or are just too big. At the minute I don't want to buy too many new clothes as I'm hoping to lose another stone, but I have treated myself over the past month to a few bits that I know will still look ok if I lose more weight. Plus I am going on holiday in December and it's going to be impossible to find summer clothes in winter!

What I am extra happy about, is the fact that I haven't starved myself, ever been hungry and to be honest as of yet haven't done that much exercise. I have treated myself on big occasions and haven't ever missed out on anything 'because I'm on a diet'. Slimming World allows those treats and allows 'syns' - in fact encourages them for a healthy weight loss. If I want to go out for dinner, I will try to choose the healthiest option, however if I want to treat myself, I will treat myself and plan to be good for the rest of the week. There are limits on certain foods and obviously high calorie and fatty foods carry syns, but I am allowed unlimited amounts of potatoes, pasta, vegetables, fruit and meats - which means I don't have to go hungry! If I do get hungry, I eat! Some people say 'that's stupid, you can't lose weight eating unlimited amounts of pasta and potatoes!' Well I have and thousands of other people have too so that many people can't be wrong ;)

I've struggled a bit over the past couple of weeks and haven't been counting my syns properly. I've still lost I just haven't had as good a loss as I would like, so this week I am keeping a food diary again and I'm hoping for a big loss on the scales! I'm also starting to do more regular exercise as I know it's important, plus toning up is going to be a big part of me feeling better about myself.

Some people might think it's a waste of money but I really don't think it is. It is hard to lose a lot of weight and having the group there for motivation, having to get on the scales and feeling good or bad about the number and receiving the support you get really is worth it. Plus it is more of a healthy eating plan than a diet - there is a new plan when you reach your target weight so it is possible to keep off the weight - and you can still have your guilt free treats like chocolate and cheese and sweets! I'm sure my weight will always go up and down but I think once I'm at a weight I'm happier with and feel better about myself, I won't let myself get to the current weight I am again. I hope. Ha!

I'll maybe do an update next week as I'm going to post more on my Instagram account and hopefully try out some new recipes as I am getting a bit bored of eating the same foods now. I'm trying syn free spring rolls tomorrow!

Art Rookie: A Homeware Wishlist

I recently came across Art Rookie, an online selling platform for designers to sell products without having lots of start up costs and overheads. As a designer myself, I cannot tell you how great this website is. Seeing my prints on a variety of products that without this platform I would never be able to sell is wonderful and seeing my prints come to life on actual products really is amazing.
I thought I'd do a wishlist of some of my favourite items from the wide range of designs available on their site.

Cheeky bit of self promo in there ;)

Everything is printed on demand so when they receive an order, it is printed and shipped out to the customer, meaning it is 100% custom made.

Have you heard of Art Rookie?
Which is your favourite design?
What do you think of this concept?

Mad Hatters Afternoon Tea at the Sanderson

A few weeks ago I took my friend Lyn for afternoon tea to celebrate her birthday. We went last year for my birthday too which you can see here; it was Willy Wonka themed!
This time we decided to go for the Mad Hatter theme as I know Lyn loves Alice in Wonderland.
We booked in at 2.30pm which I think was a good time, but it was so busy for a Wednesday afternoon! The afternoon tea is served in an outside conservatory area which is lovely, and it was the perfect weather for it.

The picture really doesn't do it justice, but there is a lovely garden feature area in the middle and the seating areas are either side of it. I didn't manage to take a photo of it when we were seated at the bar but the one below is of where we were seated.

After being seated we were brought a selection of teas in some pretty labelled bottles. We chose the Rhubarb and Custard which smelt lovely! It was then brought to us in a gorgeous teapot which complimented the plates and teacups perfectly. The sugar cubes were presented in a music box which was a nice addition to the presentation and the menu was presented in the centre pages of an old book.

LoveMeBeauty Box July 2014 - Menu 2

My LoveMeBeauty box arrived a few days ago so I thought I'd share with you what I received.
This is the only box I subscribe to, mainly because I like that it's not always beauty products and some lifestyle related things are usually included. I got some really cute little note books a few month ago which I love, and they have also included some tea samples in the past couple of boxes.

Onto the contents! I really like this months offerings. I chose menu 2... mainly swayed by the lip gloss and the fact I really do not need another eyeliner! I'll give you a brief overview of the contents and my first impressions of each product.

The Tea Shed 4am Tea 20 Teabags (£3.50)
I have tried this tea once and I'm not too sure on it. It is a 'white tea' and is supposed to be really good for your skin. It says don't add milk but it looked really strange and didn't really taste of much so I added milk. I drank it but I wouldn't choose it over a normal cuppa! I will give it another go, and I do like that it's a large bag of teabags as opposed to the three we received in the previous box.

Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in 'Hollywood' (RRP £11.60)
This is so pretty and very pigmented. It is a matte consistency and it dries quickly, but it isn't drying at all. It smells so good but I can't quite put my finger on it. Caramel. Popcorn. You catch my drift... yummy! I wore it when I went out for a meal and it lasted for a good few hours, so I'm very happy with this!

Ofra Pressed Eyeshadow in 'Bliss' (RRP £8.80)
I haven't used this yet so can only give you a first impression but it looks like a gorgeous shimmery champagne colour that is perfect for summer! I'll definitely be trying this out over the weekend.

Jelly Pong Pong 2-in1 Eyeliner and Eyeshadow (RRP £10.50)
I'm not sure why I received this as it wasn't on the menu. I don't think I've seen anyone else receive this in their box. I didn't get the Weleda body lotion like some others people got (the first 450 orders received an extra product) because I had trouble ordering as I had two subscriptions running on my account but the customer service team sorted it out pretty quickly for me. It's very pretty anyway, and very blendable. It's a lovely dark bronze colour and looks like it has very subtle pink shimmer particles. When I got home after a few hours of wearing it, it had creased pretty badly but I do have oily lids and didn't put eyelid primer on, PLUS it's absolutely boiling outside. I will try it out again and if you'd like to see how I get on with it let me know.

LashEm Lash Enhancing Serum 2ml Sample (Full Size RRP £40.00)
I haven't actually tried this. I don't know if I will either. I don't have a problem with my eyelashes but I suppose it won't hurt to give it a go!

So Susan Dual Brow Powder Palette (RRP £11.95)
As I mentioned before, my eyebrows are very sparse and I have to fill them in (on days I can be bothered!). This darker shade is the perfect colour. My natural hair colour is VERY dark, almost black. However, over the past couple of years I've been dyeing it lighter and lighter and now it's a mousy browny/blondey colour with blonde highlights. It sounds very drastic, however I much prefer it lighter. This now means that my eyebrows are very dark and my hair is very light. If I put a lighter colour powder on my brows then you can just see the dark brows coming through. I want to get HD brows done but I really don't think there is much they can do. I've started using my RapidBrow again so hopefully I can grow them a bit more and finally get HD brows done so I don't have to worry about them as much and they can be dyed to a colour that goes better with my hair colour.
The darker colour in this little duo is actually a really good match and looks natural. I really like the little brush and especially love the mirror; the last palette we got didn't have one and it was so annoying. I haven't used this enough to measure the staying power but will definitely be using it over the next few days.

So Susan Flutter Mascara (RRP £14.95)
I have long eyelashes so love a volumising mascara. This one really did nothing for my eyelashes though. I used three coats and it barely looked like I had anything on. Not one for me afraid.

Overall I think this is a really great box. I love the liquid lipstick, can't wait to try out the eyeshadow and I'm hoping the eyebrow palette becomes a staple make up bag item.

The menu I chose is now sold out but you can still buy the other two menus online from LoveMeBeauty.
